A Jet Thruster Micro is very easy to install. As manufacturer of Jet Thruster we look back at more than a decade of experience with Jet Thruster for pleasure boats. Because we see a increased demand for maneuverability of small boats. Therefore we decided to develop an Easy to install, very compact and IP-protected product. Tailor made for small boats, powerful thrust, and as a complete set, in one box.

The basic installation rules are simple:

A: Place the pump unit anywhere in the boat where you have at least 15cm of draft

B: Place the nozzles as far forward in the hull as possible

If you follow these important rules, a Jet Thruster Micro can be installed to any boat, no matter the hull material.

Besides that a Jet Thruster Micro has unprecedented technical advantages over any other bow thruster system:

– 3x Very small holes (1x 89mm / 2x 65mm) (The biggest hole is still 20% smaller than the smalles bow thruster hole, because the smallest tunnel is always at least 110mm…)

– Pump unit can be placed any where in the boat. you CAN place it in the front where a tunnel thruster can fit, but you do not need to…

– Every moving part under the water line WILL catch stuff. Can be a mooring line (Bad) or plants and fishing lines. A Jet Thruster Micro comes with a protected inlet, where the filter grate will prevent these items from entering the pump unit. All smal

– Flexible hoses, allow you to design the best hose routing for your boat. Standard 33ft/10m hose is provided in the kit. Compact installations like the above shown image require less hose, but in case you need to place the pump more to the center of the boat or in the engine bay, the 33ft/10m might be required.

– Small Nozzles result in less drag. A traditional tunnel thruster has a large effect on the hull’s hydrodynamic shape. Water will rush over the tunnel edges and create resistance which results in increased fuel consumption. Jet Thruster nozzles however are located more forward and will not be in touch with the water flow

– Last but not least: A Jet Thruster Micro is a great DIY product. Why? It’s so much easier compared to any traditional tunnel thruster, because no complex, labour intensive Fiberglass work is required. You simply do not have to work with these chemicals. A Jet Thruster Micro requires 3 smaller holes only, and the flanges of the inlet and nozzle cover the edges of the holes afterwards, resulting in a clean install. After these thru-hulls are placed, the boat looks as new again, and better, because a smart and functional product will now make your boating experience much better!!

Nozzles are a crucial part in any Jet Thruster installation:

The water flow is directed to nozzles which are located Forward and Aft in the boat, just below the water line. Because each hull is different, and interiors may vary, we have created a series of nozzles with different flange angles in order to have the optimum nozzle for your boat. Note: As a standard the 45-degree flat-flange nozzles are included with the installation kit. Obviously when a other angle is required, these can be exchanged.

Battery

Optima batteries are the best choice for powering Jet Thruster systems. These batteries are Small, powerful and have excellent deep cycle capabilities. We recommend to only use Optima (5.5L) for Jet Thruster Micro systems.
